Covid-Style Staff Parties: How to Spread Holiday Cheer During a Global Pandemic
This is the time of year that companies typically come together to celebrate their dedication to a shared mission and toast to the holidays. Given that we are still experiencing a global pandemic, many companies are making the decision to cancel their celebrations. With COVID-19 creating complications for Americans, such as increased mental health concerns, financial concerns, relational issues, and loss of life, a holiday party may offer a bit of glimmer in a gloomy time. If you are still on the fence and/or hitting a wall trying to figure out how to have a covid-safe celebration, here are a few ideas to spread cheer from a distance!
Drive through holiday party: Have staff and their families drive into a location and celebrate from their respective cars. Decorate with lights and music. Deliver goodies and a socially distant good time!
Virtual cooking class demonstration: Hire a local chef to curate a virtual cooking experience. You can select a vendor that creates and sends ingredient boxes directly to staff members. For a bit of extra pizazz, create your own boxes, and add a personalized touch for staff.
Sip and Paint party: Find an artist to complete a painting demonstration. By the end of your holiday party, you will have an entire staff of Picassos and Basquiats.
Virtual Caroling: This is a holiday party, karaoke-style. Create a playlist, get your instrumental music ready, and sing the night away!
Mock-tail competition: Encourage creativity through competition. If you have a zoom account you could create teams/breakout rooms, and whoever creates the best recipe wins! If you have a staff over the age of 21, maybe you can throw in a real cocktail or two!
These are just a few ideas to get your wheels turning, but no matter what you decide have fun! You and your colleagues/staff deserve to let loose and usher in joy even amidst chaos.
Happy Holidays!
